An Open Letter from Sean & Tom, co-founders of Modellaunch.com
Dear Friends:
In January, the ModelLaunch server suffered a catastrophic mechanical failure. Ever since that crash, we have been trying to figure out what to do, but unfortunately, there is no easy answer.
Founded in 2000 at the hopeful dawn of a new millennium, ModelLaunch has helped countless numbers of models get discovered and find management. We have helped an untold number of photographers develop their artistry and in many cases helped them get started. We have helped models, photographers and agents find each other and network in real, professional settings. We've publicized the best about this industry and we have also provided honest information about the dangers of the industry and its many pitfalls.

ModelLaunch also established a number of important online firsts, including the world's first and best online model search; the first website to focus on the men's industry; and the first to publish in-depth interviews with top fashion models and agents.
Perhaps one of the most important innovations ModelLaunch made was to provide all of these services free. No one had ever done that in the modeling world before. More recently, we created a new, professional networking version of the site with many innovative, new features.
Despite those many achievements, the site was an insatiable drain on our time and resources, and battles with a few problem members left us feeling a bit bruised after everything we've done for the community.
That being said, we made many friends from the site, and it greatly enriched our lives in untold ways. We got a privileged look behind the scenes at the fashion circus in New York, and we are extremely proud of everything we accomplished and contributed to the industry, which is a better place because of our participation.
Faced with a complete loss of data, however, we have decided it is time to bring ModelLaunch as it existed to a close. We will be putting the articles we are known for back online at the end of March. But the portfolios, networking and community features won't be part of the new site going forward.
Our thanks to everyone who has contributed to the site over the years, but especially to Chris (Amurtigermaster), the Top Mod in the ModelLaunch Mod Squad, who made an invaluable contribution of time, ideas, enthusiasm and help. Also to Kevin, Timur and Ethan, the other Mods who also were very generous with time and assistance.
Also to photographers Christopher Makos, who contributed photography and articles to the site, and to Patrick McMullan, who is one of the best people in the industry and who was extremely helpful to us over the years.
And finally, thanks to all of the members. We greatly appreciate your support and enthusiasm. We're extremely gratified that ModelLaunch was able to help so many young people realize their dreams.
