So I work at Red Robin as a Hostess. Every Tuesday and Thursday though, one of the hosts has to dress up as "Red" the Red Robin. Sense I am the shortest and smallest Host I am now stuck being "Red" all the time. I have never had a problem dressing up as Red at first cause I got to dance around and be a goof ball and still got paid for it.
Well last week I was Red and I was walking around the restaurant saying hello to all the children and giving them hugs and high fives. I came to a table that was surrounded by a huge family celebrating one of the children's birthday. I went ahead and goofed around with the older kids at the table and then went to hug this little girl who was about 10 years old and she bit me! I didn't know how to react at first so my hand out of instinct balled up into a fist and I almost punched her in the face. I realized what I was doing about half way pulling back when the family gasped in shock that I was about to hit this little girl. They gasped at me! What about there daughter who nearly bit my thumb off?! Why not yell at her? So when I heard them gasp I just turned around and walked into the back and took off my mascot head and started screaming out of anger. After calming down I went back out on the floor but decided to just hang out in the front greeting guests instead because I had a pounding heading. That was a bad idea on my part. As soon as I got to the front there where tons of little kids up there. I hugged this cute little girl and patted her brother on the head. Then out of the corner of my eye I see two little hellion boys running towards me to hug me gorilla style. I tried to brace myself for the impact but I am so small it knocked me off balance and I fell back onto a table. Lucky for me no one was sitting there. Then when I stood up they proceeded to punch me in the head a bunch of times and then the youngest stuck his hands in my beak (which is where I see from) and hit me square in the eyes. Let me just tell you, I was LIVID at this point. If someone would have had a camera I would dropped kicked these boys and taken off my head and proceed to beat them senseless. But with my luck there was no camera, so I just walked off the floor and got undressed.
Getting payed $8.50 an hour for 2 hours to be put through that hell is not worth the pain and frustration of dressing up as Red. Just remember this story if you ever go to work there and they try to sucker you into it. Just say no.
