A photographer friend and I just returned from a trip to Las Vegas where we planned for seveal months to shoot models while we were there. Several models accepted the assignment to work with us TFCD and we worked hard setting up  a schedule of shoots during our week duration of shooting. Models confirmed their desire to work with us several times before we added them to our itinerary. Even with all this planning we found when we arrived that several models backed out at the last day or two with little or no notice. One model even failed to show at her place after we made plans to pick her up and take her to and from the shoot. She not only failed to show up but also failed to answer calls regarding what happened to her.
It seems models don't take TFCDshoots seriously. They don't care about the planning that goes into these things. Some of them just decide to do something else at the last minute and the photographer is left with no model to shoot, often after expenses of planning and getting to and from the shoot.
Las Vegas certainly isn't the only place this happens. I realize there are emergencies and legitimate reasons for cancellations, but there is no excuse for those who just act as "Flakes" and back out for no reason, often without even the courtesy of letting the photogher know until its too late to schedule someone else. I'm sure if these models were paying for a shoot rather than getting something for free it might make a difference. Why do models turn down the chance for free photos from skilled photographers? It can certainly be a Win-Win situation for both the photographer and the model when things work as planned.
If a model doesn't want to shoot, just say so in the beginning and don''t make plans you don't plan to keep! All comments are welcome in reply.
